Making Bright and Patterned Pillows WERK {And Six Bougies on Etsy!}

I'd say my affinity for color and pattern is quite apparent in the pillows and products we've designed for Six Bougies - some of which are FINALLY AVAILABLE ON ETSY! Check them out, and I'll also be adding lumbar pillows in the coming days ;)

Good thing I live in West Africa, where pattern and color abound at the fabric market and in daily fashion. While I definitely appreciate neutrals, they just don't do it for me in the same way a punch of pink or a deep ocean blue might brighten my day. (Is it weird that pillows impact my mood?!)

This is my jam:

And as I've mentioned before, I could live in this store:

.
Nonetheless, I'm well aware that color and pattern are not in everyone's decorating comfort zone, and embracing an eclectic mix of color and print might be - gasp! - quite a stretch for some. HOWEVER, I strongly believe that some saturated pattern can be incorporated in practically any decor style or pallet... and in my opinion its often what pushes a design to the next level of sophistication.

In other words, anyone would benefit from adding a Six Bougies pillow to their couch, bed, or armchair. If anything, its an eye-catching conversation piece ;)

And I'm obviously not the first to think this way... check out this cute video on how to mix patterns (with pillows) from one of my absolute favorite pros, Emily Henderson:

SO! In an effort to justify my pillow obsession and demonstrate the awesomeness of color and pattern... I've collected some of my favorite photos showcasing vibrant and patterned cushions in quite an array of homes and styles - from feminine preppy to bohemian chic, global glam to cheeky traditional. As a result, I'm feeling inspired to branch out in prints and color families for future pillows and home goods! Hopefully you'll be inspired too, maybe even for some Six Bougies goodness ;)

If you've made it this far, congrats! I also recommend checking out Amber's The Anatomy of a Pillow Combo over at Amber Interior Design for one more pillow mixing resource! And I'd love to ask what color schemes you all are drawn to in your own decor choices. Earthy? Primary? Neutrals? Pastels? Any colors you hate? Your feedback would be much appreciated, as the latest Six Bougies pillows are very much inspired by my love of teal and coral :)

And FINALLY, for more pillow inspiration - and image sources - check out my new Pinterest board devoted solely to pillows. And then head over to Etsy, stat!

HAPPY FRIDAY!
